Bourg médiéval du Vieux-Hombourg

Overlooking the valley of the Rosselle, a long hill with steep sides gives Hombourg-Haut a very special appearance. The silhouettes of the houses squeezed by the old fortifications evoke the brilliant past of the old town. In the middle of the 13th century (from 1240), Jacques de Lorraine, bishop of Metz, built a powerful castle and a collegiate church with thirteen canons. Many wars shook Hombourg-l'Evêque before it became part of the Duchy of Lorraine in 1581. The town centre, known as Old Hombourg, still bears witness to its superb location and flattering heritage. Hombourg has one of the strongest and most interesting concentrations of heritage in the Rosselle region, and even in Lorraine-Est. Its monuments still bear witness to the glories of yesteryear
To visit Hombourg, you just have to follow the indications of the walking tour (2,5 km) from the place Jacques de Lorraine (Maison de retraite Le Hêtre Pourpre). The tour is available at the Tourist Office or at the sites.
