La Pannonie castle is one of the most unusual in the Lot. Built in the 18th C. on the site of a former Cistercian grange, this remarkable "classical" building and its English-style grounds form an oasis of lush greenery in the wilderness of the Gramat causse.
In the 13th C., this lonely part of the causse was put under cultivation by the Cistercian abbey of Obazine (in the Corrèze). Then, during the second half of the 15th C., Pierre Lagrange, a rich merchant from Rocamadour, had a noble residence built on a U-shaped plan instead of this monastic grange.
The same family belonging to the nobility of Quercy have lived in this monument for the past 300 years until the present day.
