In May767, Peyrusse was under the control of Pépin-le-Bref, king of France, who snatched him from Waïfre, his Lord Visiigoth. From then on, Peyrusse followed the history of Toulouse County, and in the 13th century became the largest bailiwick in Rouergue. The city is growing and experiencing a great economic and demographic boom. It has 700 fires or about 3,500 inhabitants. It becomes a very strong place of war. The Bailiff, King's Prosecutor and four elected Consuls administer it. The Hundred Years War, the wars of religion and the dismantling of its walls in the 17th century weakened it. She lost her title as chief bailiff in 1719. Peyrusse's decline was then inevitable.
The magnitude and splendour of this medieval site will give visitors unforgettable sensations. Severity
