Description

Amé de Remiremont was born around 560 in Grenoble. He died in Remiremont in 627. Together with Saint-Romaric, he created the double monastery of Saint-Mont, enabling Europe's most powerful female chapter to come into being.

He spent his last years in a cave before dying in 629 at Saint-Mont.

Crosses erected on the site remind us that this was the site of the first church of Saint-Amé, and that the cemetery received the bodies of deceased parishioners until 1724.

The chapel is now closed, with only the exterior visible.

Accessible on foot only - can also be reached from the Saint-Etienne-lès-Remiremont mobile police station.

Hiking trail available from the Tourist Office or on the Remiremont Plombières Tourisme application available on all mobile phones.
