The Madeleine Massif is located between St-Michel-sur-Meurthe and Saint-Dié-des-Vosges and culminates at 658 m altitude on Les Hauts de Champs. The massif offers hikers multiple departures for walks in the forest. Under the canopy of Scots pines, the King's Chair, the rock of Pas de l'âne (a curious engraved stone), the rock of Saut du Cerf, that of Pic Vert, mark out in remarkable rocks a natural hemicycle strangely resembling the pattern of the Pas de l'âne.
