Parc du Charmois

Erected in the heart of Vandoeuvre, the Domaine du Charmois and its 3-hectare park is one of the jewels of the town's heritage. Surrounded by high walls, the Charmois park is in the tradition of the bourgeois parks of the end of the 19th century. The design of the park "à l'anglaise" with its winding alleys wants to create the illusion of wild nature. With its rare essences, its massive monuments, its stream and its elegant spillway basin, it is a very pleasant place for a walk.

Declared a free refuge by the League for the Protection of Birds, it is home to dozens of species such as the blackbird, bullfinch, chaffinch, blue tit, nuthatch, creeper, green woodpecker and spadefoot.
Small curiosity, an authentic English telephone box is installed in the park. It was acquired by the town of Vandoeuvre from the former Nancy Telecom Museum as a nod to its twinning with England.

In the middle of the park is the Domaine du Charmois, a former private residence probably built by Désiré Bourgon, a member of the Ecole de Nancy, on the site of a first castle built in 1725 by Claude Joseph Gilles dit le Provençal (painter of Stanislas) and destroyed in 1895. Today, it is a place for seminars, congresses, exhibitions, cocktails... Next door, the Charmois farm has been transformed into a municipal hall.
