The St. Nicholas Gate was erected at the time of the construction of the Ville Neuve at the beginning of the 17th century and was the crossing point to the south of the city. Its name reminds us that it opened towards the road to St. Nicholas de Port, a city that has become famous since a relic of St. Nicholas (a phalanx) was brought there. Having become the patron saint of the Lorrains after the battle of Nancy, its cult took on even greater importance. Restored in 2018-2019, it is part of the heritage of the Lorraine Renaissance.
