The most spectacular meander in France with the one seen since "La Longue Roche." La Roche à Sept Heures is located in the communal forest of Monthermé . This site is located at the top of steep rocky spurs overlooking the Meuse river and the small town of Monthermé. The name Roche à Sept Heures is said to have a very common origin: it comes from the fact that at seven o'clock in the morning, the sun shining on this rocky spur gives it a very visible glow. Indeed, it is made up of quartzites, compact siliceous rocks, rich in quartz, which reflect light. The view from this site offers a very picturesque panorama of this part of the Meuse. The major interest lies in the meander, considered to be the most spectacular in France, in the convex portion of which the town of Monthermé has settled. This site is close to that of La Longue Roche.
