Don't hesitate to come and discover the rich heritage of the abbey! Nestled in the greenery on the banks of the Semoy River, the Laval-Dieu Abbey was built in the 12th century and restored several times after fires. The canons managed the abbey's property and made it prosper, notably thanks to the salmon fisheries, the mills, the slate quarries as well as the land and woods which were exploited until the French Revolution. Nicolas OUDET and Remacle LISSOIR, the last two abbot-fathers, embellished the interior, which can still be admired, in particular the stained glass window in the choir, the fresco renovated in 1999, the stalls and the magnificent 18th century panelling. An apothecary is also open to visitors, as are the gardens.
