LA CHAPELLE ET FONTAINE SAINTE SABINE

This small 18th century religious building, dedicated to Saint Sabine, is located on the site of an older oratory.
The legend tells us that the nuns deserted the heights of the Holy Mount in 818 to settle in Remiremont. Between 910 and 920, the barbarian invasions forced them to return to the Holy Mount. They brought back with them the relics of St Amé, St Romaric and St Adelphe (the first two were the founding saints and the third abbot was the head of the monastery). The youngest of the nuns, named Sabine, having difficulty following the flight, got lost in the mountains and in the forest of Fossard. She was joined by the Huns near a spring where they beheaded her.
Following this exaction, the spring took the name of Saint Sabine and many miracles occurred thereafter.
Still according to the legend, Saint Sabina was the only one to have carried the palm of martyrdom. This legend was used by many inhabitants of the area to honor the cult of Saint Sabina.

A pilgrimage that continues every year on the last Saturday of August, the day closest to the feast of Saint Sabina

Near the chapel there is a small divinatory pool. Every year, young girls participating in the pilgrimage of Santa Sabina would throw a needle into the water and if it floated up .... the marriage was assured within the year! If it didn't, they had to try their luck again the following year!
