Description

The Bertrichamps church was built in 1770 in the style of traditional Lorraine churches: with a massive tower, a squat bell tower and a high, wide nave with no external buttresses. Its vaulting is a plastered ceiling, which defines the building as a "barn" church (like that of Deneuvre, built around the same period). The building houses 3 imposing chandeliers, 2 smaller models, and 2 candelabras, all made of Baccarat crystal.
The church was listed as a Monument Historique in 1960 by André Malraux, then Minister of State for Cultural Affairs.
Open daily.

The building houses 3 imposing chandeliers, 2 smaller models, and 2 candelabras, all made from Baccarat crystal. Concerning the 3 central chandeliers, Abbé Badon's notes state that the small chandelier is the work of crystal cutters from Bertrichamps, who worked at the Cristallerie and donated it in 1850. The second chandelier, known as "medium", was made and donated in 1860. The third, the largest chandelier near the choir, was donated in 1889 by former crystal cutters. The candelabras in the choir can be dated between 1850 and 1860.
Donations of crystal chandeliers are common to all the communes around Baccarat. The Manufacture supplied the raw materials and tools, and the staff from the commune in question carried out the work on a voluntary basis.
The choir houses a carved and painted altar, as well as an imposing painting depicting Saint-Jean-Baptiste, the patron saint of the parish. A monumental fresco was painted on the ceiling of the choir and apse in the 1920s.
The Bertrichamps church was listed as a historic monument in 1960 by André Malraux, then Minister of State for Cultural Affairs.
The church is open daily.
