Sauveterre was built near a natural defense, the Gave d'Oloron. This river is part of its identity just like the Isle of Glère (strike in Béarnais). Cross the footbridge opposite the Camping du Gave to stroll through the heart of this classified natural site, considered the 4th monument of Sauveterre-de-Béarn.
Thanks to regular monitoring by the ONF, many protected plant species are highlighted (black poplar, boxwood, foliage lichens ...). Discover at any time the history of this island classified as Sensitive Natural Space: its flora, its protected plant species, appreciate the calm and the beauty of the nature which surrounds you.
