Château de Malle

In the heart of Sauternais, Malle Château is attractive with its Renaissance architecture and the grands crus from Sauternes and Graves which are matured in the winery there, as well as its remarkable Italian-style gardens. Built in the 17th century by Jacques de Malle, President of Bordeaux Parliament, Malle Château, now listed as a Historical Monument, is imposing and commands respect with its wonderful setting.
Stroll around the 6 ha of gardens with Florentine inspired terraces and delicate statues. Have fun recognising Cupid, Venus and her lover, Adonis. Bacchus is not far either; these sculptures are inspired by the vineyard and vine works, even the effects of drunkenness… East of the first terrace, well known characters from the Commedia dell'arte, Pantalone, Scaramouche and Harlequin, invite you to a little Italian theatre built from cut stones.
