The Haute-Cize area is located in the Natura 2000 zone, which gives it an important role in the preservation of certain remarkable bird species. It must be said that the diversity of environments between the Pic d'Herrozate, which peaks at 1345 m above sea level and offers desolate mountain pastures, and the Orion forest, allows you to fully enjoy some of the treasures of the Basque Country. One will thus seek in altitude the typical mountain species: crab and chocard, as well as many birds of prey, including the bearded vulture. Small mountain passerines are also easily observed here. There are not really any trails that allow you to fully enjoy this area, apart from the one that connects the two between the village of Béhérobie and the Erozate pass, but this is on almost 700m of difference in altitude. However, one can still walk through the mountain pastures at will on the heights.
