Chapelle Saint-Blaise

On a former feudal mound overlooking the Etang d'Hontanx pond, the Saint-Blaise chapel adjoins the Château d'Aon. The presence of a seven-sided chevet suggests that the building dates from the 11th or 12th century. Originally, this building was devoid of the two side chapels and the sacristy.
Unlike the other churches facing east towards Rome and Jerusalem, the building faces north, an originality undoubtedly due to the narrowness of the mound. Inside, vestiges of painted decoration still adorn the walls.
This chapel is dedicated to Saint Blaise, patron saint of carders and woollen craftsmen.
After a certain abandonment of the cult, it was used by farmers as an attic. In the 80's it was restored by volunteers from the village. Today, it is a reception place appreciated by the guests of the Château d'Aon.
