La Forêt d'Hayra

The Hayra forest is typically the habitat of the white-backed woodpecker. Vast shady beech woods with little undergrowth, dotted with a few firs, it offers a fairy-tale atmosphere without comparison. In addition to the famous woodpecker, its spiny and black cousins are also represented, the latter often being the noisiest
Wood creeper is also present here.
The valley on the edge of which the forest extends is crossed from south to north by a small watercourse called the Hayra stream, which is largely skirted on the way up to the forest. It is here that we will look for the creek wagtail and the dipper.
