The building forms an original yet harmonious whole, with elements spanning five distinct eras. Its unique character is owed to its layers of architecture, spanning the 11th to 20th centuries with each age leaving its mark.

The church is currently exhibiting a unique collection of inter-war art (stained glass and statues).
