The New Palace of Narbonne is the new part of the monumental complex of Narbonne, France, consisting of the Palace of the Archbishops of Narbonne and the Cathedral of Saint Just and Saint Pastor.
The Palace is located to the right of the anchor passage, opening a door that dominates access to the area of the New Palace. The tower of Gil Aicelin, near the door of the same name, was built to assert the authority of the archbishop over the viscounts who had their residence just opposite, to supervise the bridge and the port. It has 162 steps and a terrace at the top with a splendid view. There is a room called the treasury with medieval sculptures. Next to it is the Synod building, from the 14th century, constructed to enlarge the Palace. To the north of the tower is the tower of Saint Martial. Work from the 17th and 18th centuries altered its appearance and classical facades were built; additionally, in 1846 Eugène Viollet-le-Duc raised the east wing, which corresponds to part of the town hall.
