Stork nests in Colmar

Anyone walking around in Colmar cannot fail to notice that the symbol of Colmar and Alsace is the stork. You will find this beautiful white bird in every tourist shop. As a cuddly toy, key ring or on a pillowcase. The stork is really everywhere. These beautiful birds find their home in Alsace and also in Colmar. After a long warm winter in Africa, the birds return to this area, among other things, to breed and raise their young. You will find these birds on high buildings, church towers and electricity pylons. In summer and spring during the breeding season it is a nice sight. Small beaks protrude above the nest edge and everywhere you hear the clattering so characteristic of storks. In the city itself, the number of nests is somewhat limited. However, if you come to the villages outside Colmar, you will often find even larger populations. A special detail is that the number of storks in Colmar grows at about the same rate and decreases with the number of births in the city.
