The parish church, dedicated to the Holy Cross, was built in several phases between the 12th and 15th centuries. Helena met Constance Chlore to whom she bore a son, Constantine, who became emperor in 306. He converted to Christianity, as did his mother, and was the first emperor to favor him. At the request of her son, she went to the holy places where she discovered the holy relics of the Passion of Christ. The most important is the "invention" of the Holy Cross. The word "invention", from the Latin inventio, is here to be understood in the sense of "discovery", as in the case of the excavation of various remains, the Latin verb "inventio" meaning "to find" in French. On the front of the church building is a niche with a picture of Saint Helena.
