Lieu d'Art et Action Contemporaine de Dunkerque

LAAC, Lieu d'Art et Action Contemporaine, with its garden of sculptures, water, stone and wind, aims to bring together the public and art through a programme of exhibitions and events for all.

At the heart of a garden of sculptures, water, stones and wind, right next to the beach, LAAC defies the sky with its astonishing white ceramic architecture.

As sparkling and cheerful as the pop years, it houses a very rich collection of more than 1,500 works , reflecting the 1940s-1980s, including Circus by Karel Appel, Car Crash by Andy Warhol and Valise Expansion by César, all presented in rotation depending on the exhibition schedule. The graphic arts cabinet is a key part of the museum, offering visitors the rare opportunity to compose their visit as they wish by manipulating drawers and pull-outs and discovering almost 200 drawings and prints from the collection.

The museum is a warm and friendly place, with lots of fun and interactive resources for families and friends to explore. It also offers a rich programme of events throughout the year that combine visual and performing arts.

Throughout the year, the LAAC welcomes schoolchildren from nursery to secondary school and leisure centres, offering 1-hour workshop visits and 1-hour guided tours of the collections, temporary exhibitions and garden by appointment .

Together with the nearby Fonds Régional d'Art Contemporain (FRAC), it forms a knowledge centre for contemporary art.
