No document gives us the time of construction of the first church in Champigneulles. As for the present building, the first bay of the choir dates from 1618 and the nave from 1774. In 1686, the community of inhabitants paid a master carpenter-roofer to straighten and restore the cross of the bell tower which was leaning and threatened to fall. In 1712, they had work done on the tower, the portal, the choir and the nave. However, the church proved to be too small and it was decided, in 1772, to enlarge it while keeping the vaulted choir.
