Croix

Made of white granulite, this cross is decorated with flowers and bears six figures, including Christ and the Virgin Mary. Part of the right-hand cross has been amputated, and the relief has been altered. On the front, Christ with, on his right, the Virgin, her head crowned with a veil and her hands clasped, and, on his left, a sketchy figure in the position of Saint John the Evangelist. On the back, the Virgin and Child is surrounded by two figures who are difficult to identify and who bear no recognizable attributes. According to the inhabitants of La Jugie, food for the plague-stricken or lepers at Le Chambon was deposited near this cross.
