Exposition sur l'histoire de l'espadrille

In Mauléon, on the second floor of the Maison du Patrimoine, come and discover the permanent exhibition recounting the history of the espadrille, an item of footwear inseparable from the capital of Soule.
The industrialists who left their lasting mark on the town and, by extension, the whole province of Soule, also feature prominently. Photos, press articles, machines and tools used for decades will help you better understand this industry. You'll also discover the story of the Hirondelles, young girls who, from the end of the 19th century onwards, came from Spain to work in the workshops in winter.
