Basketry is an ancestral practice, with each country, region and territory having its own specific characteristics. It was this diversity of practices and materials that first fascinated Caroline Prache. A soothing activity that connects you with nature.
In 2018, this pharmacist by trade decided to leave everything behind. After a year of reflection, she decided to devote herself to basketry. She will train at the Ecole Nationale de Vannerie et d'Osiériculture in Fayl-Billot, before opening her workshop in Pont-à-Mousson in 2021.
Today, she weaves wicker and wild plants, which she gleans mainly from the local area. She draws inspiration from traditional crafts from a variety of horizons to create objects of art, decoration and everyday utility (baskets, lighting, garden decorations, nesting boxes...), not forgetting the landscape basketry (huts, vegetable patches...) that brings our gardens to life.
L'atelier les Sauvajoncs also offers workshops and courses to revive a craft that was once widespread.
Come and reminisce or simply discover the art of basketry.
