Situated in the heart of the Vosges mountains, Mirecourt has a rich heritage of craftsmanship. Labelled a Ville Métiers d?Art, Mirecourt is world-renowned for its violin and bow making. Its museum, classified as a Musée de France, bears witness to this, alongside the Maison de la Musique Mécanique, where you can discover serinettes and old organs, and a summer space dedicated to lace, at La Fabrique.
The town has preserved traces of its medieval past: the tower of the old town wall, the chapelle de la Oultre, the church of Notre-Dame, sculpted lintels and spiral staircases punctuate the narrow streets. The arrival of the railroads in the 19th century marked an architectural revival: beautiful classical and Art Nouveau villas and tree-lined Avenue Foch provide an elegant backdrop.
The Madon River flows through the town, delighting fishing enthusiasts. A recent motorhome park offers a comfortable and peaceful stopover. As you stroll through Mirecourt, between heritage, crafts and nature, you'll also discover good restaurants where you can savour the local gastronomy.
