Fleville devant Nancy

Fléville devant Nancy, less than 10 km south of Nancy, is a traditional Lorraine village in the process of valorization. The village has benefited from a very important contemporary development, but the heart of the village has kept all its rural character.

The castle of Fléville, a beautiful building mixing medieval and Renaissance styles, is one of the architectural jewels of the Grand Nancy. The 30-meter high keep remains from the first building (around 1320). The castle houses a small museum of the crews but it is especially remarkable for its 35 meters long Renaissance balcony and, inside, the Louis XV apartments which often welcomed Stanislas, when Anne des Armoises held a famous literary salon.

The park is classified among the "Historic Monuments" as a romantic park, and moreover "Remarkable Garden" with its garden - rose garden and fruit trees - located on the site of the old melon field.

Behind the Orangery, a recently restored trompe l'oeil, evoking the painted decor that was probably used as a backdrop for 18th century parties.

Owned by the Lambel family since the beginning of the 19th century, the castle and the park are open to visitors on weekends throughout the year and every day in July and August.

The old village is very pleasant and still has some cobbled streets. Many hiking trails leave from there, especially towards the south and the Vosges mountains.

The junction canal - between the Marne-Rhine canal and the East canal - offers an idyllic setting and very nice paths for walking or cycling.

As a reminder of the Second World War, the Lancaster RA 502 monument marks the location of the crash of this bomber on the night of February 1 to 2, 1945: a twisted propeller blade found during the excavation was embedded in the front of the stele.
