The large sundial from 1703 occupies an area of about four square meters on the building of the local hospital in Molsheim. Its author is Father Constantius, a Capuchin monk. The dial table has declination lines appearing alternately in light and dark lines. Details were corrected during successive renovations.
Inside the cloister's courtyard is a second dial from 1666 carved from a block of sandstone placed on a column
The sundials remind us of the importance of time to ensure the subsistence of the Carthusian monks and to enable them to carry out their mission of hospitality.
