Below the surface of the limestone plateaus, nearly twenty species of bats inhabit the territory of the Cévennes National Park and live in cavities sculpted by water over the centuries. In winter, the lack of food forces them to hibernate. The caves and caverns, with their constant temperature and humidity, are an ideal shelter while waiting for the arrival of good weather.
