À la rencontre des orgues

As early as 1754, the presence of an organ is attested in Saint-Luc. Nothing is known about this instrument, except that it was sold in 1830 because of the reconstruction of the church. A new organ, composed of 3 manuals and 41 stops, was installed in 1862 by Jean-Nicolas JEANPIERRE (Manufacture de Rambervillers). Its case was sumptuous, designed by Léopold Gigout, architect in Nancy. It was for a long time the second largest instrument in the Vosges, after the Cathedral. It was destroyed in August 1914. A new organ with 3 manuals and 45 stops was built in 1931 before being damaged by the American bombings in 1944. Refurbished in 1982, it is now showing signs of deterioration which requires a refurbishment.
The Choir Organ of the Church of Saint Luke
Having no organ after 1914, the Raonnais installed the organ in the former major seminary of Saint-Dié. It was not until 1946 that a new choir organ was installed by Louis GEORGEL, an organ builder from Etival, who was based in Haute-Marne. Built in 1910, it includes a keyboard and 8 clean stops. The pipes are enclosed in oak woodwork. The transmission is mechanical
The Organ of the Protestant Temple
An organ was installed in 1978, it is a new instrument built in Germany in 1963. It is an instrument with mechanical transmission composed of a keyboard and 7 stops
The Organ of St. George's Church
There was an organ as early as 1837. This instrument of classical tradition was also built by Jean-Nicolas JEANPIERRE. In 1932, Joseph VOEGTLE locked the organ in an expressive box. It was definitively denatured in 1952 when the house Jacquot Lavergne deeply transformed the instrument. A second keyboard was added and the number of stops was reduced by 3 to 16
It was not until 1976 that the organ was raised and partially re-harmonized before a total restoration in 2003. Today, the organ has 2 manuals with 16 stops, the transmission is electro-pneumatic
Note: the neat aesthetic of the organ case which is inspired by the Callinet cases of Rouffach with turrets and entablatures. The pipes of Jeanpierre are still in front
An association, created in 2013, accompanies the restoration project of the great organ of the Saint-Luc Church "Orgue Avenir à la Porte des Vosges" to bring the organ and its music to life. All good wills are welcome.
