Niederbronn-les-Bains owes its birth, its name and its prosperity to its thermal springs, which have made its reputation since Roman times. At the Maison de l'Archéologie, visitors can discover a complete panorama of objects collected during excavations in the Northern Vosges, from prehistory to the time of the fortified castles. The Janus Trail - or "Stroll beyond the landscape" - is the perfect complement to the visit.
Classified as a hydromineral resort since 1926, the town has retained its character and dynamism, thanks to its leisure facilities such as the Casino Barrière, the on-track golf course and the "Aqualies" swimming pool, not to mention its many hotels, restaurants and other events organized throughout the year.
The Grand Wintersberg, the highest point in the Vosges du Nord Regional Nature Park, towers above the town at 581m. The panoramic tower at its summit offers walkers an unrivalled view of the Vosges mountains and the Black Forest. Also on the route of the GR53, the network of signposted footpaths is rich and varied.
