Unique in Lorraine, the horse museum is located in the heart of the upper town of Gondrecourt-Le-Château. It is located in an old fortified castle, partially destroyed in 1633 by order of Richelieu.
Today, only the tower remains, which served as a prison for common law prisoners and as a refuge for vagrants. The museum's collections are on display there, as well as in the rooms of the building adjoining the tower, which were once used as a courtroom. You can discover many objects dedicated to the horse: collars, bits, stirrups, horseshoes, and many saddles from different periods and for different uses (military, agricultural, civil).
Also not to be missed: the working tools of the saddler and the farriers, as well as the treatment room.
By appointment from 10 people onwards out of season.
