Located in an area almost entirely covered by forest, crossed by the Cosson and crisscrossed by footpaths, the village of Sennely is lined with pretty 19th-century brick houses that bear witness to the revival of Sologne under the Second Empire and the boom in agriculture at that time. At the heart of the village, the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church catches the eye with its powerful square bell tower, Latin cross plan, and brick fore porch. Replacing an earlier building dating back to the 9th century, the church was built in the 12th and 13th centuries but underwent extensive restoration after the Wars of Religion and the Revolution. Inside, you can admire a 16th-century polychrome wooden Christ on the Cross. Nearby, the former presbytery has been converted into a bed and breakfast.
