This fountain, the village's only water source, was preserved during construction of the Saint Sulpice Laurière-Montluçon SNCF line in the 1860s, thanks to the intervention of an influential Gartempe family, the De Léobardy family. They demanded the construction of an access tunnel to the fountain. The vaulted tunnel is built of cut granite rubble. Two buildings of similar construction, built under the roadway and located on either side of the fountain, allow water to flow out, one from the stream, the second from a water right used to irrigate the plots.
