799 cubes - Michael Chauvel - Festival Artpenteurs

The Etang des Quatre Fils Aymon in Météren is now the scene of an artistic intrusion, where an invasive structure manifests itself in the form of a captivating illusion: a red sun rising from the water.
A set of 799 cubes rises up, forming a red lace, with a striking double effect, where the reflection of the structure merges harmoniously with the artwork. This installation, begun in 2018, is an ephemeral, in situ exploration of a visual language close to land art and environmental art.

Michael Chauvel's creations are born of an intimate dialogue with the spaces that host them. Far from gravity, these ephemeral installations capture the lightness of the moment. In keeping with an artistic approach close to land art and environmental art, these works aim to constantly renew the visual language, inviting the viewer to a poetic and dreamlike rereading of nature. The artist's aim is to arouse emotions, raise questions and offer a new perception of the environment that surrounds us.

Artpenteurs is a land art festival running from June 1 to September 29. A dozen monumental and ephemeral works are on display. You can use the points-noeuds network to criss-cross the C?ur de Flandre and discover the works.
