When you arrive in La Canourgue, don't miss the Clock Tower, which stands at the entrance of the village when you arrive from Banassac. At the same time, you will see the coat of arms of La Canourgue: a golden lily and a half on an azure background, associated with the greyhound dog which recalls the arms of the Canilhac family
This tower, which was originally the communal belfry used to watch the horizon, was probably built on the remains of the Saint-Etienne castle. In the 18th century, it was used (and is still used today) as the communal clock.
If you take the stairs on your left, opposite the restaurant, you will come across the entrance to the Tower and the adjoining square. From there, you can begin your discovery of the village of La Canourgue, passing through the narrow streets of the old town.
