EGLISE PAROISSIALE SAINT-PIERRE

On the Méjean causse, the hamlet of Saint-Pierre des Tripiers has a very interesting Romanesque church. Its construction was spread over several campaigns of work, which can be read on the walls inside, and give an idea of the evolution of the village
The choir is the primitive core of the church, with its narrow apse surrounded by two absiodioles, it dates from the end of the 11th century. A second campaign in the 12th century enlarged the church with the nave of three bays, then later the addition of collateral vaulted in half-barrel. The old bays above the arches can be seen on the south side. The facade and its Renaissance-style portal were probably rebuilt after the Wars of Religion
The church depended on the monastery of Rozier. All the buildings of the priory, organized around a central courtyard serving as a cloister and equipped with a cistern, were attached to the south of the building. They have recently been restored and transformed into rural lodgings.
