Flexbourg

Flexbourg is located in the sub-Vosgian hills, and the surrounding terrain is still marked by numerous gypsum quarries, which were very active until the end of the 19th century. The commune boasts a 3.5-hectare AOC vineyard, part of the Syndicat du vignoble de la Couronne d?Or, of which it is one of the geographical gateways. Guided to nearby villages by ancient calvaries on comfortable paths, today?s walkers can contemplate the nearby Vosges mountains and the Nideck massif to the west, and the sub-Vosgian hills dominated by Mont Scharrach to the east. Come and discover the church of Saint Hippolyte, built in the 19th century in a neo-Romanesque style, with its 42-meter steeple overlooking the hills. Flexbourg has been a place of pilgrimage since the 14th century, thanks to relics and a curative spring located beneath the church. A number of remarkable houses in the village are well worth a visit.

The population reached 483 in 2022. A number of associations are based in the village, catering for young people, families and senior citizens alike. The year unfolds with a variety of events, including the Schiewelefier evening that opens the way in spring, concerts, the July 13 evening and the senior citizens? party to close the year.
