Built in 1948, the Hameau stadium was originally intended for the national school of military physical training. Today it hosts professional clubs.
It is the headquarters of Section Paloise (rugby) and Pau FC (football). The stadium is used alternately by both clubs, who play their home games there. It has a capacity of about 13,500.
Section Paloise played there for the first time in October 1990, against Toulon. On that day, it won 15 to 6, thus marking its return to the elite of French rugby.
The Hameau has also hosted the jubilee of Dominique Vésir, former player of AS Saint-Etienne (1988), a match of the French under-21 football team (1997), matches of the European Rugby Cup (1997-98) and more recently in 2012, a match of the Six Nations Women's tournament between France and Ireland.
