La Maison Avron

La Maison Avron is a cultural venue for artistic residencies and a gîte located in La Corne-en-Vexin, in the hamlet of Hardivillers-en-Vexin.
History of Maison Avron
The Maison Avron once belonged to Philippe and Ophélia Avron.
Philippe Avron, actor, playwright, companion of Jean Vilar and Benno Besson, winner of several "Molières", was a major figure in popular theater, from the cabarets of the Left Bank with his compère Claude Evrard (Avron et Evrard), to solo shows ("Je suis un saumon" "Le Fantôme de Shakespeare"...) and "Hamlet" in the Cour d?honneur of the Palais des Papes at the Avignon Festival. He passed away in July 2010.
Ophélia Avron was a psychoanalyst and president of the Société Française de Psychothérapie Psychanalytique de Groupe. She passed away in October 2013.
Maison Avron was their second home, where they came to work, write, rehearse, paint and sculpt. During their long stays, they hosted parties for the local population.
Philippe and Ophélia (who had no children of their own) decided to bequeath their house to the commune, with the intention of turning it into a venue for artistic and cultural activities, and a residence for artists and writers.
The Maison Avron now belongs to the municipality. To respect their wishes, the association La Maison Avron was created. The association organizes artist residencies and, in September, brings the Maison Avron to life with "Les journées Avron", an annual event focusing on theatrical writing.

Artistic residencies :
The Communauté de Communes du Vexin-Thelle has made the Maison Avron an integral part of its cultural policy. It is therefore the cornerstone of the Culture-Rurality Contract (link to the page presenting the Contract) signed in 2019. Indeed, artists coming under the Contrat Culture-Ruralité will stay at Maison Avron for the duration of their artistic residency. The Maison Avron then becomes a showcase for the artist?s work, inviting local residents to come and discover his or her current or finalized project.
The Maison Avron association hosts companies in residence. Jean-Gabriel Carasso, president of the association, examines all work proposals, based on a project and its possible integration into the local community.
