The town stretches over 3km along the banks of the Sèvre niortaise and owes its name to the unification in the 15th century of the towns of Saint-Héray and La Mothe.
From the Moulin l'Abbé, follow the signs of the discovery circuits.
They will lead you to the viewpoints over the town and along the Sèvre niortais. On your smartphone, the Terra Aventura and Vidéoguide Nouvelle-Aquitaine applications will spice up your visit with surprising information.
Along the way, discover several sites that have marked the history of the city: the green theatre, the dovecote, the Moulin l'Abbé, the galleries of the Orangerie and its gardens.
You will also discover the small heritage along the water: mills, bridges, footbridges and wash houses.
In September, people gather under the balcony of the Maison des Rosières to celebrate the union of the young couple, while tasting Rabelais' fouace.
