Jardin de la Sénéchaussée

The 2013 purchase of the Seneschalerie, the Old Palace and the vast garden allowed for the renovation of these spaces and the opening of the garden to the public.
The Garden of the Sénéchaussée, which is ideally located, in the heart of the city center, near the Cité de l'Écrit and the Office de Tourisme, is a garden that extends over a remarkable area of 5000m².
Protected as a Historic Monument, this garden is located along the Gartempe river.
Initially considered as a French garden, it was also a food garden, old photos showing the presence of flowers and fruit trees.
During its redevelopment, the owner wished to respect the initial layout by bringing some modernizations, the boxwood alleys were for example replaced by flowery borders, by rose gardens, but also by alleys covered with arbors and pergolas.
