Musée d?Art Militaire de Vincey, l?Espace de Mémoire Lorrain, from 1914 to the Algerian War
Nearly a hundred mannequins in action, working cannons and vehicles, a trench reconstruction and thousands of objects and memorabilia from the wars of the 20th century. The quantity and quality of the exhibits will blow you away!
Take a step back in time and immerse yourself in military history. The Musée de Vincey is housed in part of the red-brick buildings of the Boussac spinning mills, a former flagship of the textile industry and the site of the Battle of the Trouée de Charmes in August 1914. The museum is symbolic in that it displays the memorabilia and uniforms of General de Castelnau, winner of the battle and nicknamed the savior of Nancy for having stopped the Germans at the entrance to the city of the Dukes of Lorraine.
Spanning over 1500m² and two levels, the museum offers a rich and varied retrospective of the most important wars, from 1914 to the Gulf War, including the Second World War, Indochina and the Algerian War. You'll discover a wide range of equipment: vehicles, weapons, clothing, posters? a highly instructive journey through time, with the Museum's guides and volunteers committed to the duty of remembrance.
A pleasant and entertaining visit, led by specialists who evoke history through objects, images and sound, to reflect on and question the workings of weapons and their usefulness on the battlefield.
Individual or group visits, weekends or weekdays, don?t hesitate to contact the museum staff for any requests you may have. They will be happy to adapt to your needs. Young or old, school groups, associations or veterans: look out!
