GIVET, Ville Fleurie "3 Fleurs"

Givet is a border town of 6356 inhabitants called "Givetois". Givet is located in the north of the département, in "la Pointe". It boasts a 354-hectare Nature Reserve (the second largest in Champagne Ardenne). Givet is the confluence of the Houille and Meuse rivers. The town's left bank is known as "Grand Givet" and the right bank as "Petit Givet": Charlemont, created in 1555 and remodelled by Vauban in 1696, named after Emperor Charles V.Tour Grégoire is an ancient watchtower, said to have been erected in the 11th century, on the edge of the steep slope of Mont d'Haurs.The Tour Victoire is a former toll tower built of brick and bluestone in the 14th and 15th centuries. The Porte de France once protected the town's access to the south, on the left bank of the Meuse, towards Charleville and Rocroi. In 1862, it was rebuilt to accommodate the railroad, then the road.the Convent des Récollectines, now fully renovated, is a fine cultural complex (library, media library, exhibition space).the church of Saint Hilaire, destroyed in 1675, was quickly rebuilt.
