A very old chapel existed in Musau, at the place called Alte Kapelle. The various wars destroyed the building, but the pietà that adorned it was saved and, it is said, hoisted onto a cart hitched to cattle. When the cattle stopped, it was decided to build a chapel dedicated to Our Lady (1771).
The Sorrowful Virgin, a polychrome lime tree work from the 18th century, is still worshipped there today.
The ceiling is painted with 12 angel musicians.
At the foot of the altar are four painted metal reliquaries containing relics of Saint Teresa of Avila, Saint Francis, Saint Florent and Saint Bartholomew (the latter was replaced in 1873 by that of Saint Philip Neri). These relics, acquired in Rome in 1755 or 1785 (date partly illegible), were offered in 1818 to the parish by the Bishopric of Strasbourg. The reliquaries date from this period.
Next to the altar rests a sandstone statue of the dead Christ which was discovered in 1969 and poorly restored between 1969 and 1997. This recumbent statue is part of a Holy Sepulchre which dates from around 1500. The statue is registered as a Historical Monument
