The church of St. Michael, built in 1772 and classified as a historical monument, has several listed furnishings that make it a unique and very interesting ensemble. Its imposing bell tower rises 68.9 metres above the old town. It took 10 years to build this building
Its portal, sober and rigorous in its decoration, catches the eye by the decoration of its pediment, characteristic of the neo-classical style. The church of St Michel, built in Vosges sandstone, was built on the edge of the second fortified enclosure of Reichshoffen, on the site of former dwellings, the cemetery and the old church. The owners were the village community for the nave and Lord Jean de Dietrich for the choir, sacristy and bell tower. The distribution of the construction costs was controversial and gave rise to a long trial which resulted in the condemnation of the lord
The 5 volley bells offer a harmonious ringing which is why they were not requisitioned and melted down by the Germans during the First World War. The two oldest ones date from 1786 and 1812, the latter was cast in honour of the birth of the King of Rome
The Carillon de l'Europe, composed of 30 bells, plays religious tunes at 11:57 and 20:02, the air of the Cuirassiers at 14:32 and 18:01, and the European anthem at 17:02.
