Lautenbach and its hamlet of Schweighouse are a mid-mountain village in the Haut-Florival region, close to the town of Guebwiller (6km) and the Alsace wine route. The collegiate church of St. Michel also places it on the Romanesque route. The nearby Route des Crêtes invites you to discover the peaks of Markstein (15km, alt. 1240 m) and Grand Ballon (30km, alt. 1424 m) in both summer and winter.
Nearby, enjoy the specialities of numerous inns nestled in the heart of the mountains, and take away delicious farm produce (charcuterie, sausages, cheeses, dairy products, syrups, liqueurs, honey, etc.).
Lautenbach is best known for the autobiographical novel "Les tilleuls de Lautenbach" by journalist Jean Egen (Le Canard Enchaîné, Le Monde). This son of the soil enthusiastically describes his village as a creative prodigy.
Lautenbach is a must-see during your stay in the Florival, as you discover local produce and an authentic heritage.
