The Musée des Beaux-Arts et d'Archéologie de la ville de Troyes in the Grand Est region of France, officially known as the Musée Saint-Loup , is, along with the Musée d'Art Moderne , the city's main art and archaeology museum. Since 1830, it has been housed in the former Saint-Loup Abbey , built in the 17th and 18th centuries.
To expand the museum, the Simart pavilion was built in 1860, the Buissonnet pavilion in 1891 to expand the library, and the Audiffred pavilion in 1892.
The museum's extensive collections cover the development of various applied arts up to the 19th century and include works of art, archaeological finds, furniture, graphic art, sculptures and paintings.
Revolutionary confiscations are the origin and core of the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts. Of the seizures , the most important is undoubtedly that of the entire Chapelle-Godefroy. Other large residences have produced essential works: the Château de Pont-sur-Seine (Bellotto, Champaigne), the Château de Saint-Liébault (busts by Girardon). At the same time, confiscations from religious communities enriched the collection with works, mostly executed by Trojan artists of the 17th century (Jacques de Létin).
