The museum is housed in the historic Hôtel particulier Clapier-Cabris which later it served as a revolutionary tribunal, and became founded in 1997 by Hélène Costa , with her passion for Provencal traditions and textile collecting.
The pieces on display are a unique and exclusive collection of clothing and jewellery from the 18th and 19th centuries , such as traditional Provencal dresses, corsets, jupons (piqués), caracos, droulets, jewellery such as châtelaines, crosses, earrings, ... which reflect the daily life and craftsmanship of Provencal farmers, craftsmen and city dwellers.
Visitors walk through intimate salons surrounding a central staircase, lightly muted to protect the delicate textiles, and the historic setting enhances the atmosphere of bygone elegance and refinement.
