Near the Chapelle Saint-Michel on Place du Pontet in Grasse stands a striking modern sculpture , entitled “Si ida el vento” . It was probably placed at the reopening of the restored chapel (2020).
It is a contemporary marble sculpture that was placed in Grasse as part of the Grasse Marble Symposium – an international event where artists create marble works in the city. The symposium selects around 7 sculptors , from Italy, Bulgaria and Iran among others, who each work from a block of Carrara marble.
The title in the dialect means "When the wind goes" or "When the wind blows" and refers to the elements – a nod to the maritime charm and pastoral landscapes of the region. The sculpture plays with feelings of movement in stone , as if gently swaying in the wind or inviting us to look deeper. Surrounded by historical architecture (such as the chapel), it creates a contrast between old and new , where tradition meets modern expression.
